Automatic SMS Reminders for Upcoming Visits

VetsWise can send automatic SMS reminders for upcoming visits through the external service SMSAPI. This integration lets veterinary clinics remind their clients in good time about upcoming checkups, vaccinations and other procedures, which keeps clients engaged and reduces the number of missed visits.

How the integration works

When creating or editing a procedure in VetsWise, the vet can enter a reminder date for the next visit. Once that date is filled in, a button for sending an SMS appears. Clicking it opens a window where you can pick a ready-made template and edit the message before it goes to the owner.

To use this feature, each clinic needs its own SMSAPI account and access token.

How to sign up and connect SMSAPI

1. Sign up for SMSAPI

1. Go to https://www.smsapi.bg/signup
2. Create an account by entering your basic details (name, email, password and phone number).
3. Confirm your email and complete the registration.
4. After logging in to your account, complete the verification process if asked.
   

2. Generate an API token

1. Log in to your account at https://www.smsapi.bg
2. In the menu on the left, choose API settings > API Token (OAuth)
3. Click the “Generate access token” button
4. Enter a name for the token, for example VetsWise, and select the following permissions:
   • SMS
   • SMS sender names
5. Confirm and copy the token. Keep it somewhere safe, because you won’t be able to see it again.

3. Send the token to the VetsWise team

Once you’ve generated the token, send it to our team so we can activate it in your account. Please email the token to [email protected] and we’ll take care of the rest.

Can I use my own sender name?

Yes, SMSAPI supports custom sender names. They have to be requested and approved by SMSAPI through the admin panel.

When are the reminders sent?

VetsWise sends SMS reminders automatically at 10 a.m. on the date entered in the “reminder for next visit” field.
